La Selección Colombia Masculina celebró la clasificación a los 16vos de final ante Portugal este sábado 27 de junio.

El equipo dirigido por Néstor Lorenzo sumó siete puntos de nueve posibles, producto de dos victorias consecutivas y un empate ante Portugal, ratificando su protagonismo y buen momento futbolístico en la máxima cita del fútbol mundial.

El camino comenzó con un triunfo 3-1 frente a Uzbekistán, compromiso en el que Daniel Muñoz, Luis Díaz y Jaminton Campaz fueron los encargados de marcar para el combinado nacional.

En la segunda jornada, La Sele aseguró anticipadamente su clasificación a la siguiente ronda tras imponerse 1-0 a la República del Congo, gracias a un tanto de Daniel Muñoz, quien volvió a ser determinante para el equipo.

Así, Colombia selló la fase de grupos con un juego que finalizó en tablas ante los ‘lusos’. En un duelo de alta exigencia, los colombianos lograron materializar el liderato de la ronda.

Pregunta 1: Balance de la fase de grupos

«Enfrentamos rivales de gran nivel y jugadores de élite. Aunque nos faltó mayor efectividad en la definición, el rendimiento del equipo fue muy bueno. Buscamos la victoria en todo momento y me voy satisfecho con el funcionamiento. Felicito y agradezco a los jugadores por el esfuerzo realizado».

Pregunta 2: Sobre Portugal

«Sabíamos que Portugal sería una gran prueba para nosotros. Es un rival de jerarquía y uno de los candidatos del torneo, pero el equipo estuvo a la altura y respondió de la mejor manera».

Pregunta 3: Sobre Ghana, próximo rival

«Aún no hemos profundizado en el análisis de Ghana porque dependíamos de cómo terminaban los grupos. Sabemos que es una selección de gran nivel, con jugadores en importantes clubes europeos. Será un rival exigente y lo afrontaremos tomando las precauciones necesarias, sin renunciar a nuestra identidad».

«James es un jugador extraordinario, un símbolo de la Selección Colombia y un líder comprometido con este grupo. Siempre ha demostrado una enorme ambición por competir y eso explica el nivel que mantiene hasta hoy. Es un capitán que aporta dentro y fuera de la cancha.

«Como cuerpo técnico analizamos distintos escenarios antes de cada encuentro. Frente a un rival como Portugal había varias alternativas tácticas y confiamos plenamente en que los jugadores ejecutaran el plan de la mejor manera. Me siento orgulloso por la personalidad y el fútbol que mostró el equipo».

«Es evidente que la ilusión de la gente ha crecido y eso también nos motiva. Nosotros mantenemos los pies sobre la tierra y pensamos partido a partido. Este encuentro confirmó el crecimiento del equipo frente a un rival de máxima exigencia y eso nos deja muy satisfechos».

Pregunta 7: Sobre las modificaciones en la formación inicial

«Buscamos administrar las cargas físicas del grupo. Nuestros laterales vienen realizando un gran desgaste y, al estar clasificados, era una buena oportunidad para refrescar esas posiciones. Santiago Arias y Deiver Machado respondieron muy bien, al igual que Córdoba, quien regresó para aportar intensidad en la presión y el ataque».

«El equipo ha evolucionado con el paso del proceso. Algunos jugadores necesitaron tiempo para adaptarse al nivel de un Mundial y otros han aparecido para aportar nuevas alternativas.
